MIND-BLOWING FACTS

Red Eye Frog
Worldwide, climate change is pushing FROGS to the verge of extinction. Because of their permeable skin, frogs are highly susceptible to toxins, making them excellent environmental watch-frogs.
Hummingbird
One-third of America's BIRDS are already lost to climate change.  Of the remaining bird population, two-thirds are at risk of extinction. (National Audubon Society, October, 2019)
Transgenic Animals
Due to climate change causing milder winters and springs, RAT populations are dramatically increasing.  According to the Centers for Disease Control, rats and mice spread over 35 diseases to humans world wide.
Business Man Displaying a Spread of Cash
CLIMATE DISASTERS have cost North America billions of dollars — $415,000,000,000 in just the last three years!  In California, wildfires were the most financially costly disaster, costing the state $25 billion in damages.

AFRICA'S RAINFOREST, which is the 2nd largest in the world, used to absorb 17% of the world’s CO2.  It is NOW absorbing only 6% of the world's CO2.  Africa's tropical rainforests are one of the most important wilderness areas left on the planet — and are often referred to as the lungs of the earth.
Flames
Eight of the hottest ten years in recorded history have occurred since 2010.  And, 2020 is on track to be ranked in the top five hottest years on the planet.  Scientists currently report that potentially lethal HEAT WAVES are commonplace.
Coast
Houses near RISING SEA LEVELS are de-valuing!  The 30 year mortgage rate for homes by coastal areas and rivers may soon disappear due to loan defaults in flooded areas.  Home loans for these neighborhoods are seeing required down payments rise to 21% - 40% of the purchase price, pushing people out of the housing market.
Gas flare stacks against a cloudy backgr
Pregnant women residing near GAS FLARES (part of the oil extraction operation which emits vast amounts of greenhouse gases) have a 50% greater chance of pre-mature births. The World Bank reports that between 150 to 170 billion cubic meters of gases are flared globally every year!

CALIFORNIA FIRE FACTS:
Intensified climate cycles with accompanying rainfall patterns are creating FIRE HAZARDS for California.  The worst wild fire seasons on record for California were 2018 (1.8 MILLION acres burned) and 2020 (over 4 MILLION acres burned)!

Due to climate change, the frequency of days with extreme fire storm conditions in California has more than doubled. (Stanford research report, April 2020)  These pronounced weather conditions coincide with cyclic “Diablo” and “Santa Ana” wind conditions.  With North and South parts of the state facing fire threats at the same time, California has found itself short on necessary firefighting resources.

California residents in fire prone areas are losing renewal of their homeowners insurance that covers fire.  Others are seeing insurance premiums increase 300%-500%. California legislation has temporarily stopped some action.
Sea Turtle
In 2019 the Earth’s oceans were the warmest in recorded history. And, the past 10 years were the warmest 10 years on record.

A new 2020 report states that the amount of HEAT needed to heat the oceans to its current level is equal to dropping four Hiroshima bombs into the oceans every second for the last 25 years.  This rate of heating is accelerating.  We are now at 5 to 6 Hiroshima bombs of heat each second!

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef (the world’s largest coral reef and the only living organism that can be spotted from space) is now experiencing the most widespread BLEACHING event on record due to human emissions of heat trapping gases.  More than 75% of Earth’s tropical reefs experienced bleaching-level heat stress between 2014 and 2017, and nearly 30% of reefs reached mortality level.  The damage is likely to be irreparable. The Earth’s coral reefs have the highest biodiversity of any ecosystem on the planet and directly support over 500 million people.

California’s coastal waters are
ACIDIFYING twice as fast as the global oceans!  And, our coastal waters are home to some of the nation’s most valuable fisheries.
